ROALD Dahl's Danny, Champion of the World comes to life at Wycombe Swan next week, courtesy of the Birmingham Stage Company. Adapted by David Wood, the popular children's tale revolves around a young boy and his father, who live in a caravan. But when their landlord announces that he wants to evict them, the battle is on to save their home. Suitable for the whole family.

Norden Farm Centre for the Arts

THERE'S plenty of fun for all at Norden Farm this half-term.

For youngsters aged five to 11 years, Dr Nose Travels Through Time uses puppetry and music to illustrate the thrilling adventures of Thurtinkle, a much loved storyteller from the land of big noses. Watch as he visits the Vikings, questions Queen Victoria, shakes hands with Shakespeare and takes tea with Tutankhamen.

Young audiences aged up to four years can also enjoy Chicken Licken, a trilogy of classic tales from the Ladybird books.

Alternatively, take a nostalgic trip with Toby Hadoke's Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf, a comical and personal look at one man's obsession with the Tardis-travelling hero.

The show is suitable for ages eight years and above.

River and Rowing Museum

GET down to nature at the River and Rowing Museum this February half-term.

Youngsters can choose from a range of activities and workshops.

Hop Along Horse, on Tuesday, February 19 invites children to hold the very horseshoes that once belonged to the Henley stagecoach horses.

On Wednesday, February 20, the Bugs Alive! Family Day includes a talk with Darren Mann from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, complete with hissing cockroaches, tarantulas and scorpions.

Little greenfingers can also get working at Groovy Gardeners on Friday, February 22. Plant a mini garden in a seed tray, water it and watch it grow.

Blenheim Palace

EVER wondered what the Victorians did for Blenheim Palace? A special exhibition, which marks the opening of the new season at the stately manor, reveals how the eighth duke, George Charles Spencer-Churchill, held a great fascination for new technology.

Not only did he have electricity and telephones installed in the palace, but he also converted a bedroom into a laboratory and regularly wrote letters to the American inventor Thomas Edison.

The exhibition also features displays from the Great Western Railway Society, including photographs of Woodstock Station, original signs and signal box bells.

Visitors can also try out original Victorian telephones, courtesy of exhibits from the Milton Keynes Museum.

Youngsters can learn more about the past from Blenheim Palace's very own Victorian schoolmaster, with 20-minute "lessons" running from 12pm to 4pm.

Sports and Leisure

THERE'S plenty on offer around the region for sporty youngsters over the half-term break.

Wycombe District Council is offering a Sports Coaching Scheme, from Monday, February 18 to Friday, February 22, for children aged eight to 12. Activities include cricket, golf, kick-boxing, football, tennis, swimming, indoor bowls and badminton.

There are also a number of playschemes available for youngsters, including at Wycombe Sports Centre and Court Garden Leisure Complex.

Chesham Leisure Centre will run activities for children from three to eight years old, including a foam-filled pit, trampolining, roller-skating, badminton, basketball, football and tennis.

Meanwhile, Chiltern Pools will run a two-day ladies football academy on Monday, February 18 and Tuesday, February 19 for ages six to 14.

Roald Dahl Museum

YOUNG fans of Roald Dahl can get creative this half-term break, while learning more about their favourite author's stories.

Youngsters aged six and over can have a go at making their own Revolting Recipe on Saturday, February 16 with Tiffany Crouch, head chef at Café Twit.

Chocaholics can delve into the history of chocolate with expert Petra Barren on Wednesday, February 20, while nature lovers can drop into Miss Honey's classroom on Saturday, February 23 and create their very own minibeast.
