DAI Young has given the new leaning on television evidence the thumbs up, even though it cost his side a try against Harlequins on Saturday.

On the stroke of half time Tom Varndell burned off his marker to touch down what he thought was Wasps’ fourth try.

But referee Greg Garner thought he’d spotted a forward pass in the build up and asked for clarification from the TMO before awarding the try.

The try was eventually ruled out, but Young is still in favour of technology.

He said: “It would be really weak of me to point to that. That’s not the reason we lost. Yes, it went against us, hopefully at some stage we’ll get the benefit because there are more tight games in the Aviva Premiership than any other league, and everybody wants to get the right result.

“It’s a tough job for the referee. We got on the wrong end of it and in some other countries they can only go back three phases – that might be a way forward.

“But you can’t argue with it. It was a forward pass and it’s important we get these things right.”
