MIDFIELDER Stuart Lewis was left hurting at an opposing player saying Wanderers 'couldn't live' with Southend on Saturday.
Lewis admitted Blues were nowhere near good enough as they were easily beaten 1-0 by the Shrimpers.
And while he offered no excuses for his side's pitiful performance, he said a comment from one of Blues' opponents underlined just how badly Wycombe had played.
He said: "There was a comment as I walked past their dressing room saying, 'They can't live with us'. That's something as a team we can't accept, to not give 110 per cent. Passes will go astray and we'll give possession away but we've got to give 110 per cent in what we are doing.
"It's no good going out there and being passing and pretty. The first thing we've got to do is give that 100 per cent and close down and be horrible to play against, then it will come. We didn't do that today and we've got no excuses - that's just not good enough."
Lewis said manager Gary Waddock had had to read the riot act to the players after an abysmal first half display, with the Blues boss questioning the commitment of his team post match.
The midfielder said: "He said as a group of players I expect a lot more and we all know that.
"There's been a few words said and a few home truths. It's at that point we've got to stand up to it and say, 'Come on, let's show what we can do', because at the minute we are not.
"We need more. Each individual needs to put that extra little bit in.
"I'm hugely disappointed with what we've produced today, it's just not good enough.
"We can't keep making excuses and saying [we'll be better] next week. We've got to deal with each game. In the first half we were just nowhere near them."
