HIGH Wycombe Cycling Club star Karla Boddy continued her remarkable ascent in the sport with a third place finish in the latest round of the Women’s National Team Series.
Boddy has now moved up to first category status (only elite and professional are above that) and proved she’s up to it in Darley Moor with a superb race.
Taking on a field including world U19 champion Lucy Garner, Boddy made sure she was well-placed by going with a breakaway group half an hour into the 75-minute race.
They built an unassailable lead, and in a bold bid for victory Boddy went for the line 400m out instead of waiting until her normal 150m mark.
Garner got back at her 50m from the end though, with Boddy being edged back into third.
