BLUES boss Gary Waddock has boosted his attacking options after snapping up forward Jo Kuffour on a short-term deal.

Wanderers swooped for the 30-year-old former Arsenal trainee following his release from League Two rivals Gillingham.

The frontman - who hit a hat-trick against the Blues for Bristol Rovers in The Pirates’ 6-3 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win at Adams Park in 2010 - will play in a friendly against Luton Town today.

He is then expected to make his debut for the first team in Saturday’s clash with Southend United at Roots Hall.

Waddock said: “He’s a good player who is experienced at this level and the one above.

“We’ve been monitoring him for a while and we’re looking forward to welcoming him into the group.”

After leaving The Gunners, Kuffour scored 10 times to help Torquay United achieve promotion to League 1 in 2003/04.

Following two 12-goal spells at Brentford in 2006/07 and AFC Bournemouth in 2007/08, Kuffour moved to Rovers.

He was the club’s top scorer in his second season with 14 goals but a change of manager at the Memorial Stadium saw Kuffour moved on to The Gills at the start of last season.
