PRESTON boss Graham Westley says he is still in talks with Wanderers about signing striker Stuart Beavon.

The North End manager described Blues' star man as "a big asset who will make a difference" and is hopeful of concluding a deal to take him to Lancashire before the league season begins.

Championship Millwall have also been linked with a move for the 25 goal striker, who missed Wanderers' Capital One Cup tie at Watford with illness on Saturday.

Westley told Preston's official website: "We have made a bid, it is no secret, and we are hoping that Stuart Beavon will come here and be a part of what we are doing and we would love to have him here.

"He is a big asset, who will make a difference, but negotiations are on going and we are hoping they will come to a conclusion and it will be great to have him at this football club."
