WASPS host Exeter tomorrow with no chance of progression in the LV Cup.
It’s hardly the sort of match to get pulses racing, and the black and golds would probably be happy just to get the fixture out the way without any more injuries.
Defence coach Rob Hoadley said: “I don’t know if ‘getting it out the way’ is how we’d describe it.
“There are things we want to get out of it. We can’t go through in the LV, but it’s a great chance to see other guys play.
“We’ve got ten points in the last two games and we want to carry that on and keep a buzz around the place until we come back to the Premiership campaign.”
Meanwhile, Billy Vunipola could make his long-awaited return against Exeter tomorrow afternoon.
The giant back row has been missing since the opening day of the season with a nasty mix of a virus and infection.
But he’s ready and raring to go again now – and he’s not the only one.
Dai Young said: “Billy Vunipola should be available. Joe Launchbury should be back for the Saracens game, and if not Saracens then the Exeter game [in the Aviva Premiership].
“James Cannon should come back in the same period. Even two or three players coming back gives you a lift.”
