STEPHANIE Clitheroe has shot to the top of the UK rankings with a blistering start to 2012 at the Windsor, Slough, Hounslow and Eton Open Indoor Graded meet.
She raced to victory in the U17 hurdles with a time of 9.30 in heat one before hitting the after-burners in round two to cross the line in 9.08 seconds.
She is joined in the UK top ten by Olivia Caesar, who set a new best over U17 60m at Lee Valley Indoor Arena of 8.03 seconds to place her fifth on the UK rankings.
Meanwhile, the best of the county’s cross-country runners were in Wing at the weekend for the Bucks AA Cross-Country Championships.
Alex Goodall dominated the U20 age group, winning the 8km race while at U15 level, Beaconsfield High pupil Becca Croft won silver while her sister Anna won bronze in the U13s run.
Also medaling was Mary Alice Davison in the U17s. She took a bronze while Eloise Davison (U15s, fourth), Kieran Wye (U17s, fifth), Emma Croft (U17s, fifth) and Sophie Street (U17s, seventh) all staked a claim for a place on the County team to compete at the UKCAU Inter-Counties in March.
However, probably the star of the show in Wing was Wycombe Phoenix Harrier Pippa Woolven.
She continued her sizzling form to take victory in the U20 run to continue her preparations for another England run out, this time in Spain on January 22.
Maryse Haynes was also in great shape, finishing third.
