DAVE Winfield could be back in the Wanderers side as early as next week after picking up a knee injury against Stevenage.
The big defender hurt himself while tackling opposing striker Chris Beardsley during the New Year's Eve clash but he could need as little as a fortnight's break before he's fit and raring to go again.
He will definitely sit out tomorrow night's match against Huddersfield however.
Young striker Matt McClure's return to action also moved a step closer this week after joining in his first full training session since a serious injury.
He dislocated his ankle on a goalscoring debut for Hayes and Yeading United in August and was today able to join in training for the first time since then.
