WASPS added injury to insult as they saw three more players go down during the home defeat to Worcester last Sunday.

Actually, Richard Haughton strained a groin during the warm-up but neither Nick Robinson or Christian Wade made it through to half time.

Director of rugby Dai Young said: “Richard Haughton pulled up a minute and a half before the game with a tight groin, which is frustrating for everybody.

“Nicky Robinson has a calf injury, but it’s soft tissue, he hasn’t actually torn it. He was struggling after about ten minutes.”

To cap it all, Wade had to be helped from the pitch after sustaining a groin injury when two Worcester players collapsed on top of him.

Young said: “It doesn’t look anywhere near as bad as we thought. We’re waiting for the results of scans but I’d like to think he’d be available when we come back to the Premiership after a month..”

With Ed O’Donoghue also going down with a shoulder injury (three weeks), Wasps’ injury list has ticked up to 13.

Young said: “We’ve got a good team in the stands at the minute.”

Southwell and Haughton could be fit for Tigers tomorrow, but Robinson is two weeks off.
