MATT Bloomfield apologised to Wanderers fans for his side's shocking show at Bournemouth on Monday.

One of Blues' biggest travelling contingents, 640, saw Wycombe's worst display of the season as they were comfortably beaten 2-0 by a side who hadn't won at home since November.

Bloomfield himself had little to apologise for as an industious game in midfield led to manager Gary Waddock saying he was one of only two players guaranteed a start in Blues' next game.

But the long-serving midfielder still felt an apology was in order as Wanderers slipped back into the relegation zone with a second straight defeat, having been beaten by Stevenage on Saturday.

He said Blues had undone all the good work from wins against Exeter and Chesterfield and a draw at Carlisle with an abysmal performance.

Bloomfield said: "We've been doing all right of late. The result on Saturday didn't go our way but we still felt the performance was all right.

"Today we've let the gaffer down and we've let the fans down. They've travelled all the way down to support us and we're sorry for our performance.

"There's no point going on a little run and ruining it with a performance like that. We're sorry for the supporters and for letting them down.

"We've had a few ups and downs this year but it's not all doom and gloom. We can't be far away from that line and we need to put this one to bed."

Injury to Scott Donnelly has given Bloomfield a chance of a regular first-team slot and the 27-year-old has been playing as well as at any point in his eight years at Adams Park.

He said: "I want to prove I can play at this level. I've been out the team and I want to prove to people I shouldn't be left out the team.

"I want to prove to people I want to play every game for Wycombe Wanderers and I want us to stay in this league. That's what I'm trying to do at the moment."
