THE second go at a Southern League Cup tie between two south Bucks rivals went all the way to penalties on Tuesday night.
The game between Chalfont St Peter and Beaconsfield SYCOB had to replayed after the original tie was abandoned after 40 goalless minutes last week when the lights went out at Saints' Mill Meadow ground.
They had another go this week, with visiting SYCOB progressing to the next round by winning the shoot-out 4-3.
Jason Sheehan put Saints in front before the prolific Lee Barney drew the sides level in first half stoppage time, with Beaconsfield going on to book a place in the next round on penalties.
The rearranged game meant the scheduled league fixture between the two sides that was set to take place on Monday night at Holloways Park was postponed. No new date has been set for the game.
Saints went into the game having beaten Fleet Town 2-1 on Saturday thanks to goals from Charlie Strutton and Daniel Hughes. It lifted them to eighth in the table but they are just two points off third place.
They host Marlow on Saturday while Beaconsfield - who didn't play at the weekend - go to Woodford United.
