WASPS director of rugby Dai Young says he's grateful for Steve Thompson's input into team meetings - but reminded him he's not a coach.
The hooker made a big impression on the Wasps scrum as he made his debut after returning from England's ill-fated World Cup campaign in New Zealand.
Young said he can make a difference off the pitch as well as on it - but he wants Thompson to focus on playing.
Speaking after Wasps' 14-12 win over Worcester on Friday night Young said: “He’s been good off the field prior to the game. He’s only been with us a week and he’s added a lot of experience and a lot of knowhow off the field, but as I said to him before the game, we haven’t signed a coach, we’ve signed a player.
“I’m quite happy for his off field input but he’s got to do it on the field and I thought he was excellent.”
