WHAT'S all this rubbish about football suddenly becoming defensive and boring?
It certainly isn't at Adams Park. Wanderers fans have witnessed an amazing total of 22 goals in the last three home games. Saturday's top of the table clash, second versus third, provided another very healthy helping of entertainment including the sharing of six goals.
It was also a titanic clash of styles. Whilst Wanderers set out to play their usual fluent and attractive passing game, Chester were more intent on mauling and brawling. At times it looked like we could have done with a couple of Wasps forwards in our team.
Thankfully, for once, we had a half decent referee who lived up to his name. Mr Wright did alright. If he had been our normal standard of referee the game would have definitely got out of control, especially in the first half when Chester were intent on kicking anything that moved.
Wanderers are currently in the third automatic promotion spot and remain the only unbeaten side in the Football League, they are also top scorers in Division Two and Nathan Tyson is the top goalscorer in the country with 13 goals in 14 games. Not a bad start to the season!
So, with all these great records and results how come we had less than 4,800 Wycombe supporters at the last home game. Come on all you local football fans, if you want to see attractive and entertaining football with plenty of goalmouth action come and support Wanderers push for promotion.
One group who are visiting Adams Park in ever growing numbers are club scouts and managers from all over the country. Their target is of course Nathan Tyson although, Sergio Torres must also be finding his way into several notebooks as one to keep an eye on.
Providing Nathan stays fit and keeps banging in the goals, it is almost inevitable that he will leave for bigger things in January. All Wanderers fans can hope for is that he goes for nearer a million rather than the half million being offered by Sheffield Wednesday.
A fee in the region of a magic million would certainly help Steve Hayes to improve the balance of the books whilst giving some funds to John Gorman to strengthen the squad.
On Friday afternoon it will be onwards and upwards to Grimsby to take on the league leaders. With Leyton Orient not playing till Saturday, a win will put Wanderers on top of the table.
Come on you Blues let's sink the Mariners promotion hopes!
