WYCOMBE Rye Ladies had immediate success when they moved up a league at the weekend.

The first team earned promotion to Division 3A of the South League last season and they showed they are worthy of their new status when they defeated Henley 4-3 on Saturday.

They got off to the perfect start with a 3-0 half time lead thanks to goals by Jenna Woolven, Jane Clark and Trish Hicks.

After the break, Charly Brydon made it 4-0 but Henley bagged three goals in the final 15 minutes to spark a comeback.

Rye Ladies hung on though to claim the points.

Tomorrow sees them visit Oxford University.

In the Trysports League, Rye Ladies 2XI drew 2-2 with Oxford Hawks in Premier Two. After going a goal behind, the seconds levelled through Sarah Davidson before Sarah Brodie put them ahead.

But Oxford came back to level late on.

Rye Ladies 2XI entertain Amersham & Chalfont 2XI tomorrow.

Meanwhile the 2As thrashed Hayes 6-0 in a friendly, while the 3XI beat Phoenix Ranelagh 4-1.

In Premier One, Marlow enjoyed a stunning 5-0 win at Rover Oxford.

Jenny Hopkins put Marlow on their way, with Liz Clegg making it 2-0 at half time. Clegg then went wild in the second half, scoring another three goals to give Marlow their first points of the season.

Tomorrow sees Marlow without a league game.

Marlow 3XI went down 6-0 against Sonning while Marlow 3XI drew 3-3 in a friendly against Burnham.

Amersham & Chalfont drew 1-1 with Bracknell in Premier One on Saturday.

They went close through Lorna Dunning but the first half remained goalless. Bracknell took the lead in the second half but A&C battled on and were rewarded on the hour mark when Natalie Durkin scored from a penalty corner. Tomorrow sees them visit Banbury.

Meanwhile, A&C were unlucky to lose 2-1 in the first round of the Women's Cup at home to higher-league Teddington.

They led through Annie Brothwell's 48th-minute strike but two goals in the last seven minutes sealed their fate.

In the same division, South Bucks and City of Oxford shared the points with a 1-1 draw.

They got off to the perfect start when Louise Riddle scored after just 40 seconds. They looked to increase their lead but City of Oxford grabbed an equaliser with 15 minutes to go.

Sough Bucks visit Sonning tomorrow.

In Division Three, High Wycombe Harlow beat Bicester 2XI 2-0.

Both sides went close in the first half, with Harlow having two shots cleared off the line, before Clare Penzer gave them the lead in the second half after good play by Heather Scutchings.

Harlow wrapped up the game when Katie Banbury converted Maggie Westby's pass.
