WANDERERS have slapped a £750,000 price tag on striker Nathan Tyson as they underline their commitment to winning promotion.

The Blues turned down a £500,000 bid from Sheffield Wednesday on Friday.

Wednesday wanted to take Blues' 11-goal hitman on loan now and complete the deal in January when the transfer window re-opens.

They also dangled a carrot of a further £100,000 in bonuses should Sheffield avoid relegation this year but Wanderers put promotion before cash. They say Tyson is worth £3/4 million at least and aren't interested in loaning him out first.

Boss John Gorman said: "The board have been fantastic over Nathan. They've been very supportive of me and what we're trying to do. Nathan's very important to what we want to achieve and we want to keep him as long as we can."

Tyson twice went close to increasing his tally as Wycombe won 3-2 at Mansfield on Saturday with a Kevin Betsy hat-trick doing the business.

The win hoisted Blues up to second in the table and Gorman has challenged his team to keep the pressure on leaders Grimsby.

Wycombe took maximum points from last night's game against Wrexham and Chester City visit on Saturday.

Gorman said: "Six points is the target. Both games are at home, it's a good opportunity for us and if we get two wins we've done our job."
