WASPS are going to fight the RFU's decision to withhold £30,000 for fielding two Lions players.
The Premiership Champions are one of three clubs who haven't received the full allocation of cash from the British Lions tour, given to the clubs as compensation.
The RFU claim Wasps broke the 11-week rest period for players by fielding Simon Shaw and Matt Dawson before the rest period was over.
But Premier Rugby the Premiership clubs' governing body reckon there was no such agreement and are prepared to go through the courts to get the money they believe is owed to them.
Wasps are furious because they actually spoke with England coach Andy Robinson about the management of players.
Director of rugby Ian McGeechan said: "We've spoken to the England coaches and said what we're trying to do, particularly with Matt and Simon Shaw.
"I think the England management know we'll look after our players. We won't overplay them and we won't play them at the wrong time.
"We've stated at the club that we want our players to play for England and we want them in the best shape to pay for England because then they'll also be in the best shape to play for Wasps.
"We are committed to doing that, not to make it awkward for Andy Robinson the England coach, but to present players in the best way possible that they can show their talents.
"That's an ethos of the club and what we're trying to maintain."
Chief executive David Davies was disappointed that the RFU had failed to trust the clubs' ability to manage their players properly.
He said: "This is dogma over common sense. We've been pretty good at resting our players, probably better than the national team. I know that Ian and the coaching staff have always put the interests of the playing staff first."
And McGeechan called for more communication rather than confrontation.
He said: "It's not about contracts or commands, it's about communication and trust. They have to trust us to do the right thing. It's about letting them know what we're doing and what they want from the player.
"Then between us, we'll get the best players playing the best rugby."
