CHALFONT'S Danny Wallis could be out until Christmas after having 60 stitches in his face to repair a chunk of his lip.
The 22-year-old central defender was involved in a sickening clash of heads with teammate Shane Sadler during last week's 3-1 win against Chertsey Town in the Associate Members Trophy.
Saints boss Danny Edwards said: "It was very nasty. One of them had gone to head the ball back to his goalkeeper while the other had gone to clear it.
"The next thing you know there had been a collision. There was a lot of blood. It took them around an hour and 45 minutes to stitch Danny up."
Sadler also had a number of stitches in his head as both players were treated in hospital and will have to miss around three weeks of the season.
Edwards added: "Danny is a self-employed builder so sadly he can't work at the moment. We just wish him all the best and he's a brave lad."
The injuries took some of the shine off the win with the Saints goals coming from Rene Barriteau, debutant Aaron McLeish and an own goal.
