BUCKS Free Press sports reporters will be swapping their notepads for their football boots on Sunday when they take on Beaconsfield Sycob.

Deputy sports editor Joe Slade and sports writer James Webb are in a media XI that will be taking on the Southern League Division One West side.

For Sycob's players, it's a chance to get their own back for every time the sports reporters have been too critical of a performance, while Slade and Webb are just hoping that the game isn't too one-sided.

Slade said: "On the one hand, I'm looking forward to it because it's a chance to pit yourself against some skillful players.

"But I'm also fearful that we'll be on the wrong end of a severe beating."

Slade and Webb will be joining forces from media personnel from local newspapers and radio stations, as well as non-league footballer Stuart Hammond, who writes a column for the Non-League Paper.

And Webb is pleased about one player in particular.

He said: "We've managed to secure the services of Delroy Preddie who performed heroics in goal for Yeading in their FA Cup run last year.

"I think he'll be the busiest player on our team but, hopefully, he can keep the score down."

Former Chelsea, QPR and Portsmouth midfield ace Mike Fillery has agreed to take charge of the media XI and will even conduct two pre-match training sessions at a private location in Stoke Poges to put the players through their paces prior to them gracing the Holloways Park turf.

The match kicks-off at 2pm. Admission is £3 for adults and £1.50 concessions A bouncy castle for young children is also expected to be present to encourage families to show their support for the media underdogs.
