Cricket : WARRIORS skipper Paul Sawyer hailed Mark Wright's match-winning innings of 123 as one of the best he's seen after his team won through to the quarter-finals of the Evening Standard Trophy.

The Wycombe opener hit 17 fours and two sixes in his innings and finished off the match with an almighty six as Sunbury were put to the sword.

Sawyer enthused: "That's one the best knocks I've seen in club cricket. He won us the game.

"It was always going to be a hard total to chase but it was a great innings it was out of this world."

And Sawyer believes Wright's success this season has come about from opening the batting alongside Matt Eyles.

He said: "Mark's enjoyed opening the batting. He was at six last season but he enjoys the hard ball coming onto the bat.

"He gets his eye in and then he takes the game away from the spinners.

"He's getting centuries for fun at the moment. He's the best player around."

And Wright will have to be on top form today when Wycombe entertain rivals Slough in a top-of-the-table clash.

Sawyer said: "It's the biggest game of the season in the league. They're a good all-round team but we've got a game plan to win and we're very confident.

"It will be a team effort but everyone is in good nick at the moment. The top six are all getting runs and I'm very confident with the bowlers. We're not under any pressure. It's a big game but we're used to playing in the big games."

Wycombe are 19 points clear but will be going for the win.

Sawyer said: "A draw would do but we want to win every game and this will be no different."

Wycombe have Paul Woodroffe back with Gordon Gaudie playing for Scotland. Adam Cole is likely to be out for the rest of the season however with his shoulder injury.
