Cricket: PAUL Sawyer led from the front with a captain's performance on Saturday.
The Wycombe Warriors skipper excelled with both bat and ball as the London Roaders thrashed lowly Finchampstead by 134 runs.
The result keeps Wycombe top of the Home Counties Premier, 19 points clear of second-placed Slough, who they play this weekend.
Batting first, Mark Wright showed he is still in top form with an impressive 78 before Sawyer decided to outdo his colleague.
The all-rounder smashed an impressive 106, helped along the way with an unbeaten 55 by Greg Pooley as Wycombe amassed an impressive 301-3.
Sawyer then picked up where he left off with an excellent spell of bowling taking 5-48 as Finchampstead were dismissed for just 167.
In Division Two West, Gerrards Cross made it two wins on the trot with a five-wicket victory over Thame Town.
Adam Krol scored 54 for Thame as they posted 245-5 off their 60 overs.
But the total was too small, with Mark Morgan's 87 not out helping Cross reach their target for the loss of five wickets.
Gerrards Cross are now in sixth place on 143 points but Thame's second successive defeat has seen them drop down to third place.
Meanwhile, Beaconsfield missed out on the chance of going second when they lost to North Maidenhead on Saturday.
A fifth straight victory in the league would have seen Becky jump from fifth to second but they ended up licking their wounds after a 91-run defeat.
David Shaw was the architect of the home side's innings. He scored an unbeaten 120 as North Maidenhead reached 225-8.
In reply, Beaconsfield struggled with the bat against Paras Mhambrey, He finished with figures of 5-35 as Becky were skittled out for 134 in 33 overs.
The defeat means Beaconsfield remain fifth on 161 points.
