BLUES boss John Gorman put one over his pal Glenn Hoddle on Friday and then insisted he's just where he wants to be at this stage of the pre-season.
Gorman, who was Hoddle's right hand man when he was England's manager, was all-smiles after his Blues team beat Hoddle's Wolves outfit 1-0 with a deflected Tommy Mooney strike.
The pair, who led England to the World Cup Finals in France have always been known as a double act but have now gone their separate ways plotting promotion with their clubs.
Gorman said: "It's always good to see Glenn and even better to get a result against such a good team as his.
"It's been a great pre-season so far we've beaten Oldham and Wolves from higher leagues and performed well against Chelsea.
"The players are getting fitter and fitter with each game and we are just where we want to be at the moment."
Wanderers had to rely on their defensive qualities in the first half as Wolves showed why they are two leagues higher. But they held them at bay and the second half was a different story as Gorman rang the changes and got the response he wanted.
He said: "We had a real sparkle and drive about us in the second half.
"We showed a great character in the second half and I think we have got a good blend.
"There's a great spirit about the club and we are all looking forward to the start of the season."
And Gorman revealed that he is still hoping to bring in one more signing before the season kicks off for real at home to Carlisle United on August 6.
His players were due another stiff workout last night with the visit of Premiership Aston Villa in assistant manager Steve Brown's testimonial.
And the gaffer is hoping for a another boost this week with Keith Ryan hoping to be given the all-clear to resume training when he sees the surgeon today after his knee injury.
Wanderers will stage England U19s match against Switzerland on Wednesday, November 16.
