OLYMPIC gold medallist Gregg Searle told Bourne End's young sportsmen and women to aim for the 2012 games in London.
Mr Searle, who won the medal in rowing, congratulated sportsmen at Bourne End Junior Sports Club Awards night on Friday, July 8.
He presented trophies to more than 100 club members to acknowledge their contributions to sport, either through their achievements in competitions or help with organising classes and activities for others.
Club treasurer Wendy Chaplin said: "Mr Searle talked about the fantastic opportunity this country has to host the 2012 Olympic Games and encouraged everyone to aim high. But he was also clearly impressed with how much the young people put into running the sports club and how much they give back to the community."
Awards were presented for badminton, in-line hockey, canoeing, judo, swimming, climbing, basketball and football for each age group. The overall club boy trophy went to 19-year-old Mark Rimmer from Great Kingshill and the club girl trophy went to Carly Selwood, 17, from Wooburn Green.
Mark is the first person to have won the club boy title three years running and is the junior sports club committee chairman.
