WYCOMBE skipper Paul Sawyer watched his side limp to victory against Henley and then called it a wake-up call ahead of Sunday's Evening Standard Trophy clash.

The Warriors beat Home Counties Premier rivals Henley by two wickets after a superb start by Matt Eyles and Mark Wright.

But Sawyer warned his side that they cannot afford another batting collapse against Sunbury on Sunday.

He said: "I was pleased with the result but I wasn't with the way we batted. I was out for a duck, Greg Pooley was out for a duck and four out of six batsmen got in and didn't see us home.

"It's a kick up the backside. We've not really been tested in chasing targets this year so this is a nice wake-up call."

Sunbury boast first-class cricketers in Richard Johnson and David Nash and Sawyer has told his side that they are up against it on Sunday.

He said: "It will be a good test but we want to play in the big games against good players."

Wycombe will be at full-strength for the match, with the exception of the injured Adam Cole.

Before then, they have another league game today when they visit Finchampstead, with Wycombe keen to extend their 19-point lead at the top of the table.

Sawyer said: "It's really only ours to lose now. Slough are our main challenger and we're in a great position."

But he warned his team against slipping up against Finchampstead by taking their eye of the ball.

He said: "We lost to them earlier on this season though they got the best deal from the toss.

"We're in a good position and we're playing positive cricket at the moment.

"We're also bowling well, we need to keep going and enjoying our cricket.

"If we keep enjoying it, we'll do well.

"We've got 15 players who can all play for the first team. The good thing is we can bring someone from the second team into the first team if there is an injury or someone loses his form.

"If we can win, we can put pressure on Slough and make it hard for them to catch us."
