FORMER Chelsea player Andy Myers will be given the chance to earn himself a Wanderers contract when Wycombe entertain his old club in tonight's sell-out friendly at Adams Park.

The 31-year-old former Chelsea and Bradford defender will play some part of tonight's glamour clash against the Premier League champions and will also feature in Friday's pre-season friendly at home to Wolves as he bids to net a deal.

Myers was due to go on the club's pre-season trip to Ibiza but pulled out because his wife was expecting a baby.

He will come into tonight's squad as a direct swap for fellow triallist John Salako who has been ruled out.

The 36-year-old former England man pulled his calf in Wanderers San An Cup match against Oldham and will be out for two weeks.

But boss John Gorman says that Salako is still very much in the frame for a Wanderers contract.

He has been impressed with Salako's contribution in training and in Ibiza.

Gorman said: "It's a blow because it would have been a chance for him to impress even further. But I am talking to him and the injury won't change our opinion of him. He's done very well since he's been with us."

Blues veteran Keith Ryan and new-signing Will Antwi also miss out on the action tonight.

Ryan is awaiting the results of a scan on his knee injury while Antwi, who joined the club from Aldershot in the summer, is nursing a groin strain.

But Gorman intends to give the majority of his remaining men a run-out against the Stamford Bridge men.

Former Newcastle midfielder Rob Lee will make his first start of the season.

Although he went to Ibiza he was kept out of the action because Wanderers did not want to risk his 39-year-old knees on the unforgiving astroturf surface.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has yet to confirm his side, but Wanderers have been promised that he will be sending a strong squad for what is the Champions' first game of the new season.

The match, which has attracted journalists from all over Europe, is sold out but will be shown live on Chelsea TV.
