WANDERERS boss John Gorman has warned his stars that every shirt is up for grabs next season.
He says even the club's biggest names like Nathan Tyson and skipper Roger Johnson are not guaranteed a starting place next season after a busy summer of wheeling and dealing at Adams Park.
The gaffer has signed six new players during the close season and now has 21 players on the roster vying for just 11 starting places.
Gorman told Midweek: "No-one is guaranteed anything. Even players like Nathan Tyson are not guaranteed their place in the team any more. We have got real competition for places and everyone knows they have got someone breathing down their neck."
Tyson walked off with the club's Player of the Year title last season and scored 22 times for the Blues but, with the arrival of former Premiership marksman Tommy Mooney, non-league hotshot Charlie Griffin and the versatile Kevin Betsy, even his place is not sealed as Gorman looks to turn the team that finished tenth last term into promotion winners this time out.
Gorman said: "We have got competition for every place. Everyone will have to fight for their shirt and I'm delighted with that.
"Competition in the squad is very healthy."
The fixture list is published on Thursday and, with Blues reporting back for pre-season training on June 30, the race is now on for everyone to impress the gaffer in time for the start of the big kick off on August 6.
And Gorman has made it clear that every position is up for grabs.
Gorman said: "I will give everyone a chance in pre-season. I have a fair idea at the moment what my best team is but I am open to someone coming through and changing my mind.
"I will give them all a chance and I will be delighted if someone comes through."
Gorman's squad will warm up for the season at the San Antonio tournament in Ibiza where they will play an Ibiza Select XI and Oldham Athletic before coming home to play glamour pre-season matches against Chelsea on July 13, Wolves on July 15 and Aston Villa in Steve Brown's testimonial on July 18.
