NICOLA Sanders continued her stunning season when she romped to 400m victory at the UK Womens League Division One fixture at Wigan on Saturday.

Having achieved the Commononwealth Games qualification standard for the 400m hurdles a week earlier, the Amersham athlete showed her adaptability by clocking 53.29 seconds over the flat a huge improvement on her previous best.

But Sanders was not the only local athlete starring for the Windsor, Slough, Eton and Hounslow club as they fought out a tough fixture against the UK leading eight clubs and finished third to the Manchester giants of Sale and Trafford.

Wycombe High School student Marika Reed finished fifth in the 400m hurdles before adding more points in the high jump where she reached 1.6 metres.

Bucks' younger athletes were also to the fore for the Windsor club in their National Young Athlete League fixture in Harrow.

Beaconsfield High School student Andrea Fox produced a storming finish to turn what looked like being second-place finish into first place, winning the U17 3,000m in 11 minutes and 11 seconds.

Vicky Fouhy also impressed. The Doctor Challoners High School student led from the gun and picked up the pace to record a time of four minutes and 56 seconds on her 1,500m debut.

Another debutant, Emerald Willett from Wycombe Abbey School, finished second in the 300m hurdles and also set a personal best in the high jump of 1.54m.

Personal bests were also the order of the day for Totteridge's Dwayne Blake, who knocked three seconds off his 400m hurdles time reducing it to 60.4 seconds and improved his flat 400m time to 52.1 seconds.

Princes Risborough's Codie Fuller also set new standards as she won the U15 800m dipping below two minutes, 30 seconds for the first time to win her B string. In the Under 17 3,000m Beaconsfield's Rachel Hawkins recorded a win and a personal best.

The club also had many more local winners.

Sophia Anderson and Camilla Rouse, both from Gerrards Cross, gained maximum points in the U15 high jump. Amersham's Catherine Hall-Jones was in equally good form in the 75m hurdles, while in the U13 girls Chalfont's Jenny Yoxall won her high jump and the A string shot.

With Windsor athletes in action at Wigan and Harrow, resources were stretched to the limit in the Southern Womens League - but that didn't stop WSEH retaining pole position in Division One with Beaconsfield's Nicole McDermott sharing first place in the Senior 100m.

In the Division Two match at the same venue, Emerald Willett won the U17 80m hurdles by three flights of hurdles, while Wycombe High School student Natalie Reinoso was another winner, with her success coming in the B string shot.
