WYCOMBE Phoenix Harriers won two of the three meetings they entered last weekend with victory for the men's squad in their Southern League match at Watford and victory for the club in the National Junior League's women side as well.
The men's win was due in no small part to Ian Turton. He had a hat-trick of wins in the high jump, discus and hammer.
Rob Bushrod was not far behind in the point-scoring stakes. He came flying home in first place in the 200m and 400m hurdles.
Carl Fletcher also won valuable points. He won the shot while Ian Parkinson won the pole vault and David Bushrod the javelin. The 4x400m winning relay team of Matt Weiss, the Bushrods and Biante Sagheera also won to put the icing on the cake.
The winning feeling continued on Sunday with the junior women showing that anything the men can do they can do just as well.
They won their National Junior League match at Milton Keynes.
Laura Groom and Sam Darvell both had winning jumps in the triple jump with distances of 9.23m and 7.63 respectively and Darvell produced the winning formula again to win the pole vault, as did Alice Groom in the high jump and pole vault More points came from the runners with Lucy Rogers smashing a minute off her time to finish with a new personal best of 11 minutes and ten seconds for the 3,000m, while Sophie Coates dashed to victory with brilliant runs in the 100m and 400m.
The U17 and U20 boys also had some fine performances to celebrate with Turton continuing his fine weekend with another victory in the high jump and two second places in the triple jump and hammer. Neil Cottrell won the pole vault.
Meanwhile the club's senior women's squad came third place in a tight Southern Women's League match at Newham where just 22 points separated the top three teams.
Alice Groom had a brilliant winning jump of 1.6 metres in the high jump and was well-supported by Jenny Mills who came first in the B string.
More fine winning performances came from Judy Turton in the pole vault and Laura Patterson in the long jump.
The runners also produced the goods with Alice Groom winning the 80m hurdles and Danni Neville doing likewise in the B string.
Liz Rzewski was second in the 400m. Jenna Tompson was second in the 300m hurdles which was the same position Sue Aphergis finished the 300m in.
