FLACKWELL Heath veterans are set to take on Real Madrid's old boys in the Spanish capital.
The over 40s team which includes two roofers and a builder will play the Spanish giants just hours before David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Michael Owen and Roberto Carlos strut their stuff for Real in a Spanish league match.
Flackwell were invited to face the Spanish kings in a European title decider after they beat Arnold Town 3-2 to win the English Over 40s Umbro Cup earlier this month.
The Galacticos side of ex-Real Madrid players will be managed by former Bernabeu and Spain legend Emilio Butragueno.
Flackwell player Byron Walton said: "It is unbelievable, you couldn't make it up. You wouldn't even think of writing to Jim'll Fix It for this because you would think it is just impossible."
The match is expected to be played in September at a stadium away from the Bernabeu with the Flackwell players then being given tickets to watch Real in action.
Walton, who managed Flackwell Heath's Ryman League side earlier in the season before moving to coach Hemel Hempstead, said: "I will have to throw my boots away after this because nothing will be able to top it."
But the 40-year-old, who lives in Wycombe, will not be doing any special training for his swansong against Real.
He said: "You won't see me doing any running around the Rye. My knees won't let me."
Remarkably this will be Walton's second venture into Spain as a player.
He was part of a Chertsey Town side that was mistaken for Chelsea and invited to play Spanish Division Two champions Compostela to celebrate their promotion to the top flight.
The ground was sold out, Compostela had just signed a Brazilian star for a big fee, and Chertsey managed to get away with a 3-1 defeat.
Walton said: "I would settle for the same again but I think we might get annihilated.
"I think they could get double figures.
"They are all ex-Real Madrid players and the Spanish take their veterans football really seriously. They play every week."
Flackwell Vets assistant manager Tony Perry said: "It's very exciting. Things have moved very quickly. I was sceptical at first but it is happening."
