BUDDING David Beckhams and wannabe Jonny Wilkinsons who hail from Cookham are busy limbering up for one of the summer's most prestigious sporting events.
The Thames Valley Youth Games will see talented footballers and rugby players joining other young athletes from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire on Saturday, July 9.
Trials have already begun and The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, which will host the event, is urging as many children as possible to take part.
A spokesman said: "Boys and girls aged from eight to 15 who live or go to school in the Royal Borough and who play at below county standard are eligible to compete in the games, which feature 11 different sports."
