Hockey: WYCOMBE Rye Ladies first team were promoted to the South Clubs Womens Hockey league Division 3A after beating Winchmore Hill & Enfield 3-1 in Saturday's play-off final at Surbiton.
Rye missed out on automatic promotion to the newly-formed Division 3A of the South League when they finished fifth in the Premier Division of the Trysports Three Counties League.
They went into a play-off against Winchmore Hill & Enfield who finished fifth in the Premier Division of the Middlesex League.
Rye made a shakey start to the promotion decider and were a goal down inside the first five minutes as they failed to deal with a penalty corner But Wycombe side regained their composure and two goals from Charlotte Rees put them in front before half time.
Rye went on to dominate the second half and missed a hatful of chances to make the game safe before Wycombe's top scorer, Jane Clarke, pounced on a loose ball from five yards out to secure a 3-1 victory and promotion.
