PICK Your Own came from behind to defeat Flackwell Acers in the John Hudson Memorial Trophy.
The mixed team of Kingshill A, C and D players were victorious despite going behind after Pan Zhengjun defeated Lawrence Harvey in the first game of a competition in which each player is individually handicapped.
But a four-game flourish for Roger Brill, Paul Croxford, Harvey, and Croxford again, saw them charge into a 4-1 lead.
Ken Norris and Adam You both won to reduce the deficit to one before Harvey secured the win with victory over Norris in the final leg.
But with the top two groups qualifying for the quarter-finals, Zhengjun secured a crucial two points with victory in the last leg for the Acers.
The other match in the group saw division three champions Hazlemere D, playing as Hazlemere Tigers, take on fifth-placed Union Baptist A under the guise of KGV.
Hazlemere's John Dawson won his first two games against Ian Fearn and Andy Burnham. Tony Walter then struggled for KGV against John Holder and Tigers went 3-0 up.
Fearn lost the first leg of his game against Tim Sallis despite a three-point starting lead but he turned it around in the next two legs.
Burnham then edged Sallis in a tight decider with the winning backhand catching the edge of the table to give his opponent no chance.
In group two, Margaret's Lads thrashed Hazlemere Zedonks 7-2 leaving them with no points, and making it an uphill struggle in the group phase of the competition.
John Saunders, Ernie Barnett and Brian Rumsey from Margaret's Lads exerted their dominance on the mix and match team although Tom McEwan overcame Saunders and Barnett.
In group three, Flackwell Boaters only had two players against Hazlemere Lions. But Premier player Paul Savage and Division Four's Geoff Thompsom produced an upset.
Hazlemere had already won three legs before the match started so only needed two to take the Lion's share of the points.
Savage started brilliantly against Mark Courcher of the Premier to win 21-18, 22-20. Mick Jeffries found the 14-point deficit too much of an uphill struggle against Thompson going down in three legs.
Thompson defeated Croucher in the next match and then Savage then went past Croucher's father Bob.
At 4-4 Savage gave his team a well-deserved three-point haul overcoming the odds to take the game 5-4.
In group Four, Harrow by Eleven had no trouble overcoming their handicaps against Harlequins B as they strolled through 8-1.
In the other fixture, Flackwell Caesars also won 8-1 against the ladies team of Hazlemere Cheeters to tie the lead at the top of their group.
