A THOUSAND pound donation has rolled in for the South Bucks Hospice thanks to the Handy Cross Indoor Bowls Club.
The High Wycombe club, which boasts international and county pedigree among its 500 members, raised the cash through a series of fun days, book sales and other events.
Peter Brown, club president, said: "We are naturally very pleased with the amount raised.
"We always like to support a local charity and heard a lot about the good work done by the hospice and decided to make them our charity for the season."
Money was raised throughout the indoor season, which started in September and runs through to April.
Val Weston, community liaison officer for the Amersham Road-based hospice, said the money was extremely valuable to the charity and would go towards improving the quality of life for patients and carers.
Founded in 1985, the day care hospice aims to improve the quality of life for people with life-threatening diseases.
