PLANS to announce a new groundshare deal between Wycombe Wanderers and Wasps were scrapped just 45 minutes before Wasps were due to go public on the proposed 20-year-deal on Friday.

Embarrassed Wasps officials spent two hours ripping page 43 out of all of the club's matchday programmes for their Zurich Premiership semi-final against Sale the following day because it contained ticket details for next season at Wycombe.

Club officials spent two hours tearing the page out because the deal was still not in place.

The last-minute hitch was caused by Wasps' former landlords QPR.

There is a long-term agreement in place between the two clubs but both insist the severance problems can be ironed out.

Rangers are thought to have some issues with the package Wasps have offered them.

QPR spokesman Phil Harris said: "There's no direct opposition to any arrangement between Wasps and Wycombe.

"Wasps can play where they want. There's a few loose ends to tie up but that's an ongoing process which we're comfortable with.

"There's no issue there at all."

Wasps are confident that the hitch is nothing more than an embarrassing delay as they look to sign a long-term agreement with Wanderers.

That deal includes a get-out clause after two years if Wasps don't get the planning permission they need to increase the stadium's capacity to 15,000.
