BLUES boss John Gorman opened contract talks with his players this week and told them the ball is in their court.

The gaffer wants to keep the bulk of the squad which finished tenth in League Two this season but won't be held to ransom by unreasonable wage demands.

He wants to sign four new players in the summer and that means that his current crop of players will have to accept the terms they are offered or look elsewhere.

Gorman said: "If the players are greedy they won't stay but if they are sensible they will."

Gorman has already made written offers to the players and this week they will get down to the nitty gritty of talking terms.

He said: "I'm not expecting it to be done overnight. These things take a bit of time but I'm confident that the players want to stay and if I can get some new people in next season I think we can do very well."

Gorman refused to discuss individual players' situations saying he wants to negotiate with them first.

Wanderers slipped down to tenth in the table following Saturday's 1-0 reversal in their final match of the season at Bristol Rovers.

On an awkward pitch and in windy conditions, injury-hit Wanderers, struggled to impose themselves and were beaten by a goal from former Blues loanee Richard Walker.
