Cricket: MARK Wright inspired Warriors to double glory at the weekend as they thrashed league champions Henley by eight wickets and then marched into the national area quater-finals with victory over Uxbridge.
Wright top-scored in both games, making 85 off just 80 balls in their Home Counties Premier League fixture at Henley and then rattling off 132 to help edge out the Middlesex League side 24 hours later.
The win against Henley was especially satisfying for Warriors and they started off by taking the early wickets of John Francis (18) and former Warrior David Taylor (12) to leave the innings on 67-4.
Danny Senior (2-58) and Paul Sawyer (2-25) did most of the early damage but an 87 partnership from Mark Bredell (80) and David Alloway (32) got Henley back in the match.
But Jason Harrison weighed in with 3-29 as the hosts finished on 242-9 in their allotted overs.
And the Warriors proved they were just as useful with the bat and the opening partnership of Matt Eyles (51) and Wright put on a superb 123.
Wright hit four sixes and nine fours in just 80 minutes.
Harrison also showed his mettle against former teammate Taylor as he racked up 65 not out while Taylor struggled to bowling figures of 1-78.
In Sunday's match, Wycombe again won the toss and Wright and Harrison (91) put on a stunning partnership of 193 to help Wycombe to 267-5 in the 45-over competition.
Wright's magnificent century included six sixes and 12 fours.
The only Uxbridge bowler to escape real punishment was Nivl Patel, who produced figures of 2-63.
But the Middlesex side managed to make an impression with Trevor Stephens and Bru Mangat racking up 70 before Sawyer (2-45) and Paul Woodruffe (2-34) began to get into their stride.
Warriors were able to contain the run chase with Jason Harrison taking 2-16 in his two overs.
They now travel to another Middlesex League Club, Eastcote, in the next round after their single-wicket victory over Gerrards Cross at the weekend.
High Wycombe's cricket co-ordinator Richard Lewis was delighted with the team's start to the season.
He said: "The whole pre-season has been worthwhile. The whole team has performed this weekend and we must build on these two brilliant performances and not get carried away as we have 17 left before we start enjoying success again."
Warriors entertain Finchampstead in the league on Saturday.
