ATHLETICS: Marika Reed bounced back to the number one spot in the National Under 20 400m hurdles listings with victory at Haringey on Saturday.

The Wycombe High School A level student, running for her club Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow, opened her club's defence of the Southern Women's Division One League Championship title with a well-judged win.

She kept in touch with the early leader before pulling away in the home straight to win by more than three seconds in 62.4 seconds.

She also won the high jump competition to make it two wins out of two.

Also helping Windsor establish an early commanding lead in the league championship race was Rebecca Richards. The Hazlemere girl produced a six metre improvement in the U15 javelin to win with a launch of 25.16 metres.

Later, Richards added more points coming second in the 200m in 28.1 seconds.

Beaconsfield High student Steph Wilson gave WSEH another win when she clocked two minutes 15.1 secs in the 800m, while Princes Risborough's Codie Fuller was runner-up in the 1,500m.

Local athletes were also to the fore for WSEH third team when they were competing at the Division Two fixture at Eton on Saturday.

Amersham's Catherine Hall-Jones made a winning debut in the U15s 75m hurdles where she clocked 12.3 seconds.

Her Dr Challoners schoolmate Anna Stansbury was also in fine form. She sliced seven seconds off her personal best as she finished second in the 800m in a time of two minutes, 34.8 seconds.

It was a good day all round for Dr Challoners with Karoline Healey winning the U15 javelin with a best effort of 16. 44 metres. She also extended her best in the shot putt to 7.80 metres where she was runner-up.

Her coach, Jo Wade, had the busiest of afternoons competing in four events. She secured runners-up spots in the 100m hurdles, hammer, discus and javelin.

Laura Edwards from Sands also impressed in her first ever attempt at the 100m Hurdles where she was runner-up in the A string in 17.7 secs while Jessica Ferrett from the Chalfont Community College won the Senior B 1500m while Beaconsfield High student Helen Spooner was runner-up spot in the U15 B 1500m.
