TONY Adams is set to sign three players today while the rest of his Wycombe Wanderers squad return for pre-season training.
The Blues boss swooped to pick up Portsmouth reserve Gary Silk on loan on Friday, while journeyman defender Gus Uhlenbeek and Bristol City midfielder Joe Burnell are expected to sign on Thursday. Present keeper Steve Williams, who has agreed a new deal with Wanderers, is also expected to sign on the same day.
The news will come as great comfort to Adams, who has been looking to add to Wycombe's small squad.
Last week, Wanderers had just 11 first-team players after Adams wielded the axe in the summer, releasing six first-team players as the club was relegated.
His plans to rebuild the squad were hit by three players turning down moves to Wycombe before Bristol agreed to sell Burnell, 23, to Wanderers two weeks ago.
Blues can now approach the start of the pre-season with more confidence, having retained the services of Williams and snapping up Uhlenbeek and Silk.
Uhlenbeek, 33, comes with massive experience in the Nationwide leagues, having enjoyed playing for Ipswich, Fulham, Sheffield United and Bradford.
But his last move to Chesterfield ended badly, when he left the club by "mutual consent" in April after hurling his shirt to the ground after his substitution during the Spireites 3-0 defeat by Stockport.
Uhlenbeek, from Surinam, has had a chequered disciplinary career, having been sent off twice and booked ten times for Chesterfield in 37 games, and receiving 18 yellow cars and one red card in a 58-game spell at Sheffield United.
By contrast, Silk is at the start of his career, having played just one first-team game for Barnet when on loan.
The 19-year-old defender has signed a one-month loan contract, with Adams having an option to sign him for the season.
Former Wanderer Dannie Bulman has joined up with ex-Blues player Mark Rogers at Stevenage Borough. The duo were released in the summer.
