WANDERERS' on-loan army, which inspired the basement Blues to a 4-1 win over Grimsby on Saturday, was being broken-up yesterday.
Nathan Tyson, who set up two goals on his debut for hat-trick hero Luke Moore, has been sent back to Reading after damaging his knee ligaments during the win.
Aston Villa have told Blues they want Moore back after Saturday's trip to Stockport.
And Newcastle United will also recall England U20 international defender Steve Taylor after he plays his final game on loan for the Blues at Edgeley Park on Saturday.
The triple blow has taken some of the shine off Wanderers' stunning win, which edged them to within five points of the Division Two safety zone.
But boss Tony Adams refused to get too downbeat. He immediately arranged a reserve game for 11am today against QPR at which he plans to play some triallists as he hunts ready-made replacements.
Adams' loan army, which also included 30-year-old Millwall defender Stuart Nethercott who was recruited on New Year's Day, ripped Grimsby apart and breathed new life into Wanderers' relegation fight.
Tyson and Moore formed an instant explosive partnership and their pace was too hot for The Mariners to handle as the Blues romped to their biggest league win since March 9.
Adams, who won 66 England caps, said: "I wouldn't have liked to play against them."
Moore claimed the matchball after his first league treble and has mixed feelings about his impending Villa recall.
He said: "I've really enjoyed it at Wycombe and I would have been very happy to stay longer but Aston Villa want me back and hopefully I will get my chance there and take it.
"I've got one game left for Wycombe and hopefully I can go to Stockport and score again because I don't want this team to go down. I owe them a lot as they gave me the chance.
"We have shown that we are good enough to stay up. There are plenty of games left and I'm sure the boys can build on this win and climb out of it."
Tyson was sent back to Reading yesterday for treatment but Blues are keeping their fingers crossed that he returns before the end of his month's loan.
Adams said: "It's very unfortunate for Nathan that he's had to go back. We'll have to wait and see how he progresses."
Blues are only permitted one more loan signing this season.
