Wycombe Wanderers striker Richard Kone has penned a new deal to remain at Adams Park.
The 21-year-old, who joined the Chairboys from Non League Athletic Newham on New Year’s Day, has become a fan favourite in South Buckinghamshire.
In that time, the Ivorian has scored 14 times in 42 outings since January, which includes netting on 10 occasions in 21 matches this season.
Three of his goals this term came in a nine-minute second-half spell against Peterborough United in October, when he netted a perfect hat-trick coming off the bench.
Whilst no time frame has been given on his new deal, it is believed that is previous contract was due to expire at the end of this campaign.
Speaking at the fan’s forum on November 21, Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield said: “Rich has had a superb start to life as a professional footballer this year and he has huge potential to kick on and have a successful career in the game, so we’re really pleased to extend his contract.
“This is a fantastic club for him to continue to develop his all-round game.
“He’s immensely popular with the fans and his team-mates.
“He’s in an environment that will help him get the best out of him.
“It’s been a long road from identifying Rich as a really exciting potential signing a couple of years ago to bringing him here in January, and credit has to go to everyone who’s helped develop him on the training pitch, improve his fitness and physicality, and also help him settle and integrate into life in professional football.
“We know this news is going to be really well received by the fans and we’re all looking forward to seeing what he can continue to achieve with us.”
Wycombe’s next match is away at Lincoln City on November 23, before they plan Mansfield Town at home three days later.
