Second half substitute Richard Kone scored a hat-trick inside 10 minutes as Wycombe Wanderers came back from behind to beat 10-man Peterborough United 3-1 at Adams Park.

In an incredible turn of events in South Buckinghamshire, the Chairboys began the first half the better, as Dan Harvie, Caleb Taylor, and Garath McCleary all went close.

The Posh rarely threatened as they did well to hold back a wave of Wanderers attacks.

The visitors' best chance of the opening period fell to Ricky-Jade Jones, who was thwarted by Wanderers goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli.

The second 45 saw Darren Ferguson’s side look the better of the two teams, as they took the lead five minutes after the restart.

Jones tapped in Kwame Poku’s cross from close-range, but the fixture turned on its head within 10 minutes as Wycombe found themselves 3-1 up.

After he replaced Fred Onyedinma on the hour mark, the Ivorian scored Wanderers’ equaliser two minutes later with a deflected volley.

Sixty seconds later, Kone got his second after he headed home a Josh Scowen long ball, and he secured his trio of strikes on minute 70 with a penalty.

Emmanuel Fernandez was given a second yellow card for a deliberate handball in the area, and up stepped the 21-year-old who sent Steer the wrong way.

The result means Wycombe move into third, whilst Peterborough drop to 13th.

Kone's heroics means he has now scored eight in 15 matches for Wycombe this season.

Prior to his hat-trick, the striker's last goal in the league at Adams Park was in the 2-2 draw against Fleetwood Town on January, 27 - 266 days ago.

It is also the first time since 2022 that Wanderers have won four in a row at home, whilst they have made it eight league games unbeaten.

Up next is Burton Albion away on Tuesday night, before hosting Leyton Orient for their last home match of the month on October 26.
