Wycombe Wanderers earned their first win this pre-season with a brilliant 4-0 away victory against Championship side, Portsmouth.

The behind-closed-doors match in Hilsea took place on July 27, which saw the fixture get split into two periods of 60 minutes.

Garath McCleary and a penalty from Richard Kone gave the Chairboys a 2-0 victory in the first hour, before Bez Lubala and a trialist each got on the scoresheet in the second period.

Pompey manager and ex-Wanderers man, John Mousinho, used 22 players in the fixture, but admitted his side, who did the double over Wycombe last season as they stormed to the League One title, ‘were poor’.

He told the Portsmouth news: “It’s a fantastic time to lose a game like that with a couple of weeks to go until the start of the season.

"Away from the result, the performance is the big thing for us, we weren’t at it and it’s a wake-up call for us going into the season. I thought both of our teams were poor.”

The triumph is Wanderers’ first this pre-season following two draws against Aylesbury United (3-3) and Colchester United (2-2), and a defeat versus Notts County (1-0) respectively.

Up next for the Chairboys is Watford on July 30 at Adams Park.

The fixture will be Wanderers' only friendly at home this summer.

Away from recent fixtures, it’s been reported that Wycombe are interested in signing Belgian centre-back, Antef Tsoungui.

The 21-year-old, who has had stints with Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion during his youth academy days, spent last season at the Dutch second division side, Dordrecht.

His only year with the club on loan from Feyenoord was a success, as he played 28 times and scored once.

However, Holland-based outlet 1908 believes the defender could move to England as the Chairboys plan to hijack NAC Breda’s proposal for the young centre half.

He joined Feyenoord 12 months ago from Brighton, but has yet to make his competitive debut for the 16-time Dutch champions.
