Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield believes his side’s 1-1 draw against Burton Albion was a ‘good point’ as the Chairboys made it three unbeaten in the league.
The Adams Park side fell a goal behind thanks to a Bez Lubala strike 57 minutes, before Sam Vokes equalised with a stunning volley to share the spoils in Staffordshire.
It was only the second league draw between the two sides (the first came earlier this season), with Vokes’ goal being his fifth of the campaign and his second in as many goals.
The result means Wanderers remain 16th whilst Burton move up to 17th.
Bloomfield, who was serving a one-match touchline ban following his third yellow card of the season against Bristol Rovers on New Year’s Day [January 1], said: “It’s a good point.
“Burton have been very resolute in recent weeks as they don’t concede many goals and have been hard to beat.
“We knew it would be tough and a completely different game to Bristol Rovers on Monday.
“Any point away from home needs to be respected but I think we did enough to win it.
“We’ll look at the positives and get ready for Tuesday night.
“I’m so pleased and proud of how many players have played today.
“I told them how important it was for them to try and get another win after what happened on Monday, but I knew it was going to be very different.
“Burton aren't as open and expansive as Bristol Rovers but they’re a good team as they’re hard to beat.
“They’ve got some good players and I thought we adapted well.
“That’s why we brought in David Wheeler into the midfield because of the experience he brings, with his leadership and experience.
“Even though we conceded first, I knew we would bounce back really well and even though we deserved to win, it wasn’t to be.
“We created numerous opportunities to try and win, so we need to be proud as to go away from home and create the amount of chances we did was very good and we need to built on that.”
Up next for Wycombe is the West Ham United 21s in the EFL Trophy on January 9, before they host Lincoln City in the league on January 13.
