Wycombe Wanderers secured their first clean sheet of the league season with a frustrating 0-0 draw at home to Burton Albion.
The Chairboys began the half quickly out of the traps and nearly took the lead on six minutes when Sam Vokes’ close-range shot was blocked by Burton keeper, Max Crocombe.
Wycombe continued to put Albion on the back foot as Luke Leahy tried his luck from range but again, the New Zealand shot-stopper was on hand to deny the ex-Shrewsbury man.

The former Oxford United goalie was very much the busy of the two keepers as he was called into action on 16 minutes where he produced a brilliant stop.
Vokes’ volley on the edge of the box was destined to nestle into the far-right corner, but Crocombe, on what was his full league debut for the Brewers, produced a fingertip save to keep it goalless.
The half began to pitter out as Burton’s best chance fell to Sam Hughes who headed wide a Joe Powell free-kick.
The second period saw Albion improve as Mason Bennett’s fierce shot from the 12-yards was tipped over by Max Stryjek.

Wycombe eventually started to wake up and put the Brewers on the back foot and were unlucky to not find themselves ahead thanks to the heroics of Crocombe once more.
The 29-year-old was on hand to make eight saves throughout the contest, which included two brilliant stops that denied Brandon Hanlan a second half brace.
He also blocked efforts from Killian Phillips and Garath McCleary, before Burton thought they had won it in the final seconds, only for John Brayford’s shot to go wide.

The result means this is the first-ever league draw between the two sides.
Up next is Bristol Rovers away on August 26.
