Wycombe Wanderers have announced the signing of midfielder Freddie Potts.

The 19-year-old, who turns 20 in September, has joined the Chairboys on a season-long long from West Ham United.

He has only played four senior matches during his professional career, but featured twice in the Hammers’ successful Europa League Conference title win last season.

Speaking on his arrival, manager Matt Bloomfield said: “We went along to watch West Ham train at the end of last season and Freddie was a player who stood out.

“We identified him as someone we’d love to bring in on loan, so I’m really pleased we’ve been able to make it happen.

“A lot of credit goes to Richard Thomas, who has a close relationship with West Ham, including Freddie’s dad Steve and also Kevin Nolan, and it’s great to bring in a young lad who’s highly thought of and has been around a first-team environment at a Premier League club.

“He plays with real energy and athleticism in the middle of the park and will really suit the way we want to play, so I’m excited to see how he develops throughout the season with us.”

The deal for Wanderers' new number 19 is subject to EFL and FA approval.

He is the son of Steve Potts, and the brother of Luton Town defender, Dan Potts - both of which have played in the Premier League for West Ham.
