Following their second consecutive league win, Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth firmly believes that his squad can ‘push on’ for the rest of the season.
Goals from Garath McCleary, Sam Vokes, and Anis Mehmeti saw the Chairboys come from behind to defeat Peterborough United 3-1 at Adams Park, despite the Posh sitting 13 places higher in the table than Wanderers ahead of kick-off.
The Cambridgeshire-based team were the favourites going into the match despite only winning three times at the home of Wycombe since 1990 in 14 visits.

They took the lead thanks to a brilliant goal from Harrison Burrows midway through the first-half, but the Chairboys showed that they are not a pushover side as they came back to earn the win.
Speaking on the performance, Ainsworth said: “I thought the lads were brilliant.
"What they did last week [against Oxford], they brought it here at home and when we get everyone back we will be a threat in this league.
“Today was also a real big marker against a team that were in the Championship last year.
“There was a bit of spice in the game as they felt aggrieved about the points situation a couple of years ago, and they probably laughed at our Championship total and wins.
We love a Super Sam goal in front of the Terrace!

“But that’s what it is, and our goal is to try and get back there.
“We want to get back to that next tier.
“There is no reason why we can’t push on.”
Wycombe and Peterborough have both been relegated from the Championship in the last two seasons, with Wanderers going down with 11 wins and 43 points in 2021, whilst the Posh were demoted with nine victories and 37 points accumulated in 2022.
