Wycombe Wanderers striker Ali Al-Hamadi has revealed his personal targets for the season as he continues to make his name his name in the league.

The 20-year-old has so far played in 11 matches for the Chairboys with three of them being starts.

His only goal to date this campaign was in the 3-1 home defeat against Bristol City in the League Cup back in August, and he hopes that with more playing time, his inaugural goal in the Football League will arrive imminently.

The Iraqi international said: “I have set goals, but they can’t be too out of reach that you eventually become demoted to try and achieve them.

“They need to be realistic to try and reach and I am trying my best to do that.

“I think at the start of the season, one of my targets was to get between 20 to 30 appearances [in all competitions], and as soon as I get my first league goal, I’ll create a tally for that.

“And let’s hope it’s around the corner!

“I had that chance at Derby and one at Barnsley, but it will eventually come.”

The striker has been with the club for nearly one calendar year and after only making one competitive appearance for Wycombe during the 2021/22 season (which was in the Berks & Bucks Cup against Long Crendon), he was loaned out to National League side Bromley Town for the remainder of that campaign.

His spell in the Non League was very successful as started eight of the 11 games he played for the club and scored three times.

One of these appearances was in the FA Trophy final, which Bromley 1-0 against Wrexham at Wembley Stadium.

The previous campaign also saw Al-Hamadi make a handful of outings for the Iraq national team.

He continued: “My loan spell at Bromley was really good, and I think people really underestimate how competitive all the leagues are in England.

“They are not pushovers as this is their job to pay their mortgages so that’s a different side to my game that I learnt, and to score a few goals and player at Wembley was unbelievable.”
