Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth has heaped praise onto Ali Al-Hamadi and Jasper Pattenden following the club’s 3-1 home loss against Bristol City.
Despite the defeat, the two youngsters played well in front of their home supporters.
Al-Hamadi scored his first Adams Park goal at the terrace end to level the cup tie versus the Robins, whilst Pattenden, who was playing in the unfamiliar position of right-back, went up and down the flanks and was a real thorn in the City attacks.

Pattenden usually plays in the centre of midfield or as a winger by trade.
Their efforts did not go unnoticed, and Ainsworth hopes that the exit from the League Cup will help their confidence and careers.
The manager said: “Lessons were learned that will be vital for their careers going forward and it was brilliant seeing the younger boys stepping up at a Championship side who were very strong.
“I’m looking forward to seeing their careers flourish ay Wycombe Wanderers and there were some real bright sparks but we need to get back to winning ways quickly.
“I’m pleased with Ali for his goal and so far, Jasper has done a fantastic job and he has got a career ahead of him.
Good game that. Gave a strong championship side a really good test, key minutes for some first teamers and lots of game time for the dev squad. Pattenden is going to be very good. Many positives to take from that. Up the Wyc.

“It takes a lot more than silky skills and great passing and Cruyff turns to be a football player, and Jasper has the other side to that where he battles away, he gets up and down and he never gives in.
“He is a brilliant young boy to have and his attitude is fantastic.
“He is an example to the others.”
