DOMINIC Waldouck gave everyone a timely reminder on Saturday that there is more than one rising star at Wasps.
The 20-year-old broke into the side alongside Danny Cipriani last season and like his best mate ended the year with a Heineken Cup winners medal.
But a hand injury has slowed him down this season and when he has played it's mostly been out of position on the wing, providing cover for international call-ups.
Saturday's Man of the Match display was only his second game of the campaign in the centre, but now he's there he doesn't want to be shifted.
He said: "Getting injured so early in the season was quite frustrating, but now I'm back and playing and I've told myself it's all about how I finish the season rather than how I started it.
"It was a good experience playing on the wing and it will help my all round game, but I certainly prefer playing in the centre and it was good to get some game time in that position on Saturday.
"Riki Flutey coming in has made it very competitive, and Fraser Waters has been playing really well all season. But I had to fight for my place last year and I knew when Ayoola Erinle left we'd have to sign another centre.
"Riki's been brilliant, but now it's my turn and I've got to show what I can do and see what happens when he comes back. There is a lot of competition, but it's healthy and means you have to do your best every time you get on the pitch."
But Waldouck's ambition is not confined to being the best centre in Wycombe.
He said: "When I'm watching England I analysis the people in my position and see how I can improve on what they're doing. It's a dream to get involved in the England set-up and win some caps."
