WASPS appear to have run out of patience waiting for a fair deal from the Rugby Football Union and say they might have to start looking after themselves.
Their Premiership challenge this season and last has been derailed by England call-ups and they don't believe they're being properly compensated.
Now, they say they could recruit foreign stars to ensure their season stays on track during international breaks.
Club captain Lawrence Dallaglio said: "We give everything to England and receive nothing back. Leicester did the same but they've changed their policy now and we will have to follow them."
Wasps chief executive Tony Copsey said: "We are proud of the service we have provided for English rugby, and intend to continue producing quality young players who are qualified to play for England.
"However, we are going to be under increasing pressure next season when there will be an increase in the number of weeks that our internationally selected players could be away. We need to be prepared for that, which may mean we look at recruiting foreign players."
The RFU tried to solve the club versus country conflict with a new compensation package, but Wasps coach Craig Dowd says they got it badly wrong.
He said: "We're sharing the pot rather than rewarding the clubs that are providing players.
"It should be simple. You provide a player, you get a certain amount.
"But we're probably getting the same amount for providing James Haskells, Tom Rees' and Dan Ciprianis as Worcester are for signing Kiwis Sam Tuitupou, Greg Rawlinson and Rico Gear.
"It's a backward theory. Wasps have done a great job providing players for England and there's more coming through, but if the RFU aren't going to reward us then young players who aspire to wear the England shirt are going to suffer. Wasps will shut their door and bring in imports.
"We've got a policy of providing players for England and that's been the ethos ever since I've been here.
"But at the end of the day we're in the red, forking out money and not getting any back. So why do directors Chris Wright, Steve Hayes and John O'Connell pour money into the RFU when the RFU aren't giving any back?
"It's a business. We provide a product and deserve to be paid for it. It's as simple as that."
